The History Of Victory Christian Fellowship

Victory Christian Fellowship began August 31, 1986. Ron and Jill Stafford were the founding pastors. Services were held in a storefront building formerly the Riley Hardware building, in downtown Waverly. Jerry and Brenda Curry, both born and raised in Waverly, became Pastors in September of 1992 and are the current Pastors.

The church purchased land on the west edge of Waverly. Construction on the new building began in the spring of 1993. The building was dedicated in April 1995. Victory Christian Fellowship School, a Christian Church school, began in September 1998 with the vision of equipping the leaders of tomorrows church.

VCF is a regional church made up of people from 3 counties - Lafayette, Saline, and Carroll. The vision of VCF is to see heartfelt worship and relationships lived out on a daily basis with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the people we worship with and live around. The goal of Victory is to be relevant to the community we live in with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

MISSION STATEMENT

What We Believe

• We believe there is one True God, that is eternal and exists in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  

• We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. He became man without ceasing to be God. He led a sinless life, performed miracles, died for our sins, was resurrected on the third day, ascended to heaven, and is sitting at the right hand of the Father.
  

• We believe the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father and Son to enable Christians to live Godly lives on earth. The Holy Spirit empowers those who believe in Jesus Christ to use their spiritual gifts to do the work of the Lord.
  

• We believe that all men are born with a sin nature and fall short of the glory of God. It is by Jesus Christ that we can be saved from our sins and come to the Father.
  

• We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. His death gives us the gift of salvation which guarantees eternal life in heaven.
  

• We believe in baptism by water. It represents washing your old life away and becoming a new creature in Christ.

Nov 22 - Free Supper Out from 5:30-6:30pm. This will be our annual Thanksgiving Turkey dinner so we need all hands on deck. Please watch for sign up sheets.

Nov 23 - NO HOME GROUP. Waverly Community Thanksgiving Service at 7pm at the Methodist Church. Pastor Tony Russell of the Baptist Church will be speaking.
